Price Range At Nopier Wool Sale
NAPIER. Sat. (P.A.) The official report on the wool sale here states that competition was well spread and keen. The wool offering consisted mostly of ewe wool and generally was not as attractive as at earlier sales. Fleece wool was keenly sought at reduced limits, while inferior skirtings were rather neglected. Lambs, with the exception of good to super lots, were most erratic and considerably easier.
Following is the official range of prices:— Extra fine crossbred, 50-56’s.—Good, 24d to 3Gd; average, 23d to 24d. Fine crossbred, 50’s.—Super, to 30d: good. 26d to 28d; average, 21d to 23d; inferior, 18'/2d to 19d. Medium crossbred, 50’s.—Super, to 30d; good, 21d to 23d; average, 18d to 19d; inferior, IGlid to 17lid. Strong crossbred, 46-48’s.—Super, to 30d; good, 2id to 24c1; average, 171' 2 d to 18lid'; inferior, 14lid to 16d. Fine crossbred hoggets, 50-54’s.—Super, to 25d; good, 22d to 24d; average, 19d to 20 lid. Medium crossbred hoggets, 48-50’s. Good, 21d to 23d; average, 18d to 19!id. Lambs.—Fine crossbred. 50’s: Super, to 32d; good, 27d to 29d; average, 20d to 25d: inferior, 12d to lGd. Medium crossbred, 48-50’s: Super, to 32d; good, 27d to 29d: average, 18d to 25d; inferior, 12d to 16d. , Pieces.—Crossbred: Good, 1/d to 19d; average, 14lid to 15!id; inferior, lid to 131:,d. Bellies. —Crossbred: Good, 15d to IGlid; average, 13V-d to 14‘id; inferior, lid to 13d. FIRST DIRECT SERVICE Probably the first time a direct boat service has been run between Opotiki and Whangarei was when the effects of the new Salvation Army officer (Major Jones) were sent to Whangarei. The goods were carried by the Paroto. Another Opotiki resident who is moving to Whangarei sent his furniture on the same boat.
