Secret Fund Books To Be Tabled
HOBART, Fri. (11.30 a.m.)—The Legislative Council has demanded that the cash books of the State Labour Forty’s secret fund be tabled in the Council. Mr W. G. Webb, who moved the tabling of the books, which were produced in' evidence at the recent Royal Commission, said he had certain information, and he desired to see the books to substantiate it. Government members violently opposed the motion, on the grounds that the court had acquitted the former Premier, Mr R. Cosgrove, of bribery, corruption, and conspiracy, and that the matter should be dropped. The motion was carried by 11 votes to 5.
