Big Loss In Frail Shipment Feared
AUCKLAND, Sat. (Sp.) Traders here fear that there will be a big loss in the shipment of 21,000 cases of oranges which arrived in the Port Huon. The ship, which came from Liverpool, via Jamaica, arrived in the stream on Monday, but did hot berth until ThursdayThere were signs of waste in the first 1000 cases unloaded and much of the fruit had to be repacked. Unloading of the remainder of the shipment is expected to take a week or 10 days because of the restricted hours being worked on the waterfront. The ship was loaded in Jamaica in two and a half days, it was stated yesterday. Auckland will receive 7000 cases of the fruit and other centres the remaining 14,000.
