Use Whey To Fight Fite
HAMILTON, Fri. (Sp.).—When water was unavailable and fire was destroying the Cambridge Co-operative Dairy Company's six-vat cheese factory at Fukeroro, the contents of the whey tanks were used to fight the flames until the fluid blocked the hose.
The Cambridge Fire Brigade was called out, but was unable to connect the- suction leads of the booster pumps with the water supply. The fire was first noticed shortly before six o’clock when the factory was well enveloped in flames. This is the fourth factory that has been lost by the Cambridge company in recent years. The building was insured with the South British office for £4920.
