No Payment For Collecting Coupons
DUNEDIN, Thu. (P.A.)—The Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr v Nordmeyer) has refused the application of the Master Butchers’ Federation for payment to butchers for collecting and ..minting coupons. In a letter received by the conference this morning, the Minister said the work entailed in administering the ( ration scheme was part of the butchers’ normal cost. It was the function of the Price Tribunal in taking into account margins which should be to ensure that all reasonable costs were met in the prices allowed. “It seems, therefore,” said the Minister, “that any attempt to select one item of cost and make special provision for this, would only cause undesirable complications.” ,
