Parcels Great Help
“Your parcels will greatly ease the burden of the people here who receive them.’’
This was stated in a letter sent by the town clerk of Whitehaven to the Hikurangi branch of the Red Cross Society.
Over 50 appreciative letters have been received by the Hikurangi branch for the 125 food parcels dispatched. The parcels were sent to relations of the men of Whitehaven and Weststanley. Scotland, who had lost their lives in the war.
Money for the parcels had been collected from the mines and factories by the Red Cross, and another drive for food parcels in the form of a street stall will take place shortly to raise more money to answer the appeals of the people of Scotland.
