All But Two Of Ruawai Crew Home

Only two of the crew of the 291-ton steamer Ruawai are now remaining with the ship. The others have left for home until the engines of the vessel are repaired. One of the owners told the Advocate'today that the ship was in excellent condition, except for the condensers.

It is hoped to fit new tubes, but it will not be known until Monday whether the Ruawai will be ready to put to sea.

Until that time the crew will be absent, but the owners stated that they are prepared to return when necessary. The vessel will probably be taken to Rawene under her own steam tomorrow.

AWAITING SPARE PARTS The ship is awaking spare parts for the engine from Auckland. “When these arrive, we will carry on. There is no idea of quitting,” a member of the crew stated.
