War Talk Disapproved
NEW DELHI, Thu. (11 a.m.)—Mr Nehru told a peace rally at New Delhi that there was no immediate possibility of war with Pakistan. “I disapprove of talk of war between India and Pakistan, but, if there is war, not a single soldier will be able to enter our territory. “We are prepared for all eventualities.”
The Indian Government has decided to implement immediately a financial agreement with Pakistan and transfer cash balances due to Pakistan “to remove one cause of suspicion and friction between the • two states.” The communique said this was the Government’s contribution “to the noble effort made by Mr Gandhi for peace.”
GANDHI LOSING WEIGHT Doctors said today that Mr Gandhi, who is fasting, was losing weight and getting weaker. He had to be carried in' a chair this morning.
In Singapore it is rumoured that three Royal Air Force Dakota transport squadrons stationed at Changi have been alerted to stand-by to evacuate British civilians fi’om India to Singapore in the event of hostilities between Pakistan and India.
