Dog Killed In Warning Mistress

HASTINGS, Fri. (Sp.)—ln warning its mistress of an intruder in the house a small terrier dog paid with its life.

Mrs G. Hargraves, of Murdoch Road, Hastings, had been out during the earlier part of the evening and when she returned about 9 p.m. the dog began to bark loudly. Mrs Hargraves investigated, with the dog leading her first to the washhouse and then to the front of the house, where its 11 barking suddenly ceased

Mrs Hargraves found the dog lying on the lawn with its head badly battered, and it died in her arms a minutes or two later.

Mrs Hargraves’ husband was away at the time, and when he returned the police were called. It was found that the house had been broken into.

Nothing was missing, but the front bedroom l had been ransacked.
