Pahi Wharf Repairs

FAPARCA ,Thu. ' (Sp.).—The Pahi wharf is to- be put in a first-class state of repair at an early date, the Gtamatea County. Council decided yesterday. The county engineer (Mr A. W. Tassel!)'reported that, in answer to a request for assistance in repairing the wharf, the Secretary of the Marine Department had made available £SO. The need for repairs was brought to the notice of the council at’ its December meeting in letters from the Pahi Domain Board and the Otamalea Regatta Club. Mr Tassell stated that, with the addition of £35 promised'by these bodies and a certain amount of voluntary labour, a very satisfactory job could be effected. Arrangements had been made to- dismantle the Batlcy wharf, and Mr A. Tilly had agreed to barge the timber to Pahi. Cr L. Ramsbottom asiied whether the three spans of the Batley wharf, which were to be left intact, could .be repaired by the gang engaged in dismantling, as the necessary timber was available now, but might not be at a later date. This was agreed upon, and the engineer was authorised to carry on with the project.
