Appoint Former N.Zer Drainage Engineer
AUCKLAND, Wed. (P.A.)— Mr James Patterson Porter, formerly of New Zealand and now engineer with the main drainage division of the London County Council, has been apointed chief engineer of the Auckland Metropolitan Drainage Board. Applications were received from many parts of the world. Mr Porter is 51. He attended the Gisborne High School and Otago University. He went to England in 1915, graduating Bachelor of Science (London). When he applied for the present position he was principal assistant responsible for new works and improvements in the main drainage service of the London County Council. His experience has been confined almost wholly to drainage work. From 1940 to 1945 he was employed by the Admiralty as superintending civil engineer, in the Tyne and Humber district.
