It Was Easier
A woman who intended to send her daughter to boarding school in England has been put off by the formidable list of clothing demanded. The list (printed) is nearly UJin. long, and includes 110 articles. Under uniform requirements are 37 items. Dresses call for 12 more. There are 10 pairs of shoes, boots, sandals, slippers, gumboots, and games “sneakers.”
Fifty-one sundries include three each of towels, bath towels, sheets, pillowcases, overalls, and “games towels.” Armed with this list, the fond mother started on a shopping expedition—but finished by sending her daughter to a good day school nearer home.
