Sampling Filtered Hatea Water Today
The Whangarei Borough Council engineer (Mr I. A. Cromie) and members of the waterworks staff were engaged this morning in taking samples of Hatea water that has been through a pilot filtration plant near the intake. The plant, which is capable of filtering 60 gallons of water an hour, has been installed to ascertain if the taste and smell of Hatea water can be removed by filtration. Members of the Whangarei Borough Council were to have inspected the plant this morning but their visit has been postponed until tomorrow. No information as to the progress of the trials was available from the members of the waterworks staff this morning but it is expected that a statement will be made tomorrow.
