Boosting Australian Dollar Earnings
MELBOURNE, Wed. (12.45 p.m.) Latest official moves to boost Australia’s dollar earnings are:— (1) United States and Canadian offers to help overcome the dollar shortage. (2) Recommendations by the Federal Advisory Committee to increase export quotas for certain goods. (3) A report from Canberra that new schedules of permissable exports will be announced next week. The United States offer of help was made to the Export Advisory Committee by Mr D. Lamm, second secretary at the United States Embassy, who stated that he was authorised to say that the United States Government wish to do everything possible to assist Australia to export dollar - earning goods.. The Canadian Trade Commissioner in Melbourne (Mr F. W. Fraser) gave a similar assurance and submitted suggestions, which are being considered.
