PRELIMINARY COUNCIL
In Batavia today, the LieutenantGovernor (Dr van Mook). declared that a preliminary Federal council for Indonesia had been constituted.
It comprises eight Indonesians from non-Republican parts of the archipelago. The communique said it was to prepare the constitution for a preliminary Federal Government of Indonesia, in consultation with the Governor-Gen-eral. Dr van Mook denied it was a trick or manoeuvre and declared that he had deliberately left the road entirely free for a complete reunion of the whole of Indonesia and was locking forward to that reunion.
