Latest Move In Indonesia
BATAVIA, Tue. (10 a.m.)—Latest in a series of last-minute developments, which, it is reliably reported, might lead to a compromise settlement between the Dutch and the Indonesian Republicans, was announced tonight. Jonkeer van Vredenburch, leader of the Dutch delegation in the talks sponsored by the Security Council Committee of Good Offices, is flying to Jogjakarta tomorrow. Republicans in Jogjakarta have been conferring with Good Offices Committee to decide their reply to the Dutchproposed modifications to the committee’s plans for a cease-fire political settlement.
Decisions reached there are expected to decide whether the Republic will join a Federal council or whether the negotiations sponsored by the Security Council Committee will break down.
