Firm Takes Action Against Council WELLINGTON, Wed.—Notice that

Dalgety and Co., Ltd., proprietors of the saleyards at Upper Hutt, intend to take action in the Supreme Court against the Upper Hutt Borough Council has been received at the office of the council. This is the latest move in the dispute over the council's refusal to allow any more stock sales to be held at the yards. The council’s ban has also attracted the attention, of the Health Department, whose district officer (Dr Hubert Smith) visited the yards yesterday and is to report to the Minister of Health (.Miss Howard). The solicitors for Dalgety’s have advised the council that at the expiration of one month from the notice given yesterday a writ of mandamus will be sought against the mayor, councillors, and burgesses of Upper Hutt, to direct the council Jo register or alternatively to renew tne registration of the cattle saleyards, on the ground that the council has wrongfully refused to do so. The Mayor of Upper Hutt (Mr E. W. Factory Employees Help With Fat Lambs AUCKLAND, Wed. (Sp.).—During the holidays about 1300 men were employed by the three main firms engaged in fat lamb killings in Auckland in addition to the usual staff. Many factory workers were available for work in the freezing' works during the Christmas holidays, and a decline in numbers was noticed when the factories opened on Monday morning. University and training college students are still at the works, but they will be leaving at the end of the month.
