N.Z. Conference Delegate Returns
AUCKLAND. Wed. <Sp.).—Mr J. E. Stokes, assistant Director of Commerce. Department of Industries and Commerce returned yesterday to New Zealand after representing the Dominion at three international conferences. Mr Stokes said he attended the Commonwealth Conference at London which began last March, and then spent seven months at Geneva at the Trade and Tariff Conference. During the last two months he attended the World Trade Conference at Havana, assisting the Minister of Finance (Mr Nashl. The world trade charter was the main business of the Havana conference, said Mr Stokes. He found Havana very hot and was pleased to leave it. Mr Stokes made the 11.000-mile iournev from Havana in five days by air.
