Warns Coal Industry Of Consumer Reaction
SYDNEY. Tue. C 11.20 a.m.). The Joint Coal Board has set a production target of 13,000,000 tons output for New South Wales collieries in 1948, which is about 1,800,000 tons more than last year’s production and about 1,250,000 tons more than the 1942 . record. The chairman of the board (Mr K. A. Cameron) warned the industry that consumers would not continue to suffer the inconveniences they suffered last year. “If the coal industry of New South Wales cannot, or will not, supply what is required,” he said, “then alternative sources of fuel will be utilised. “Already there is a very strong tendency in this direction.”
