Tasman Yacht Arrives At Russell

RUSSELL, Tue. (Sp.'i—The 40ft yawl Wayfarer, flagship of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, arrived, at Russell yesterdaySkippered by Mr P. M. Luke, the Wayfarer is one of several Australian yachts which have entered the Auck-land-Sydney race, which is to com mence on January 24. Two of the competitors in the Sydney to Hobart race, held on Boxing Day, are also expected in New Zealand shortly. They are the 36ft cutter Peer Gynt and the ketch Kurrewa 111. They, too, will compete in the Auckland-Sydney race. No other craft was seen by the Wayfarer. She took four and a half days to reach Lord Howe Island and from Lord Howe to Russell the journey occupied seven days. The crew is Messrs Luke, B. Beckett, ,1. Doyle, M. Carson and M. Slater. Fourteen yachts have entered for the Tasman race, which is being sponsored by the Royal Akarana Yacht Club.
