Jockey's Sentence Doubled On Appeal
SPORTING
WANGANUI, Tue. (P.A.) The Wanganui district committee yesterday afternoon dismissed the appeal of jockey J. Garth against the sentence of 12 months’ disqualification imposed on him by the judicial committee of the Manawatu Racing Club, as the result of a charge of foul riding in the Manawatu Cup on December 20.
The committee increased the sentence to two years’ disqualification. Garth’s appeal sought an alteration of the term at least to suspension, to enable him to ride work.
