NSW Considering Off-Coure Betting

SYDNEY, Tue.—The New South Wales Government might consider the setting up of ofT-course totalisators, to which bets could be telephoned, said the, Chief Secretary (Mr J. M. Baddcley).

He was commenting on the report of the New Zealand Royal Commission on gaming and racing. Mr Baddeley said the idea might have something to commend it if it acted as a deterrent to illegal betting and directed money wagered away from the course into proper channels.

He had asked the New Zealand Government for a copy of the report and preferred to wait until he had studied it before expressing a definite opinion.
