Offer Of £30,000 For Beau Le Havre Refused

WELLINGTON, Mon. (P.A.)—An offer of £30,000 for Beau le Havre has been refused by Mr M. J. Nash, who declined to sell because he does not want the horse to leave New Zealand.

The offer, which is the largest known for a horse in New Zealand, came from a syndicate. It is Mr Nash's wish that the horse remain in New Zeaalnd to be available for breeding here at the close of his racing career. Beau le Havre, a four-year-old by the Beau Pere horse, Beau Repaire from Pretty Brown, has won £14,990 in stakes.

BRED AT TANGITERORIA Beau le Harve was bred at Tangiteroria by Mr James Nash from his imported dam Pretty Brown and the sire Beau Repaire owned by his brother Mr Joe Nash, of Wheki Valley. Mr Nash now lives at Takanini, where he keeps Pretty Brown, but Beau le Harve is kept at Stratford where he is trained. Mrs Joe Nash said this morning that she knew the offer of £30,000 had been refused.

Picked Up Titoki Sow For Own Use

“If you come up any more you’ll be in trouble,” said Mr W. C. Harley, S.M., at the Whangarei Court today, when he convicted and placed on probation for six months George Tito, farmer, of Aponga. for stealing a circular saw and tools of a total value of £B/17/6 from a Titoki farmer.

Tito, aged 19. pleaded guilty, and elected to be dealt with summarily. Sergeant J. Greenlees said Tito had no previous convictions. The stolen property had been recovered. Tito said he had just picked up the saw and took it away for his own use. “Do they do that often in Titoki?’’ asked the magistrate.
