Local Agent: WEBB’S MOTORS. 169 PROPOSED GENERAL PURPOSES LOAN £173.200 NOTICE is hereby given that the Whangarei Borough Council proposes, to raise a Loan under the provisions of the Local Bodies Loans Act, 1926. The purpose for which the Loan is required is: Forming and laying out new streets and effecting street improvements, including reconstructing and sealing streets and kerbing, channelling and concreting footpaths; widening Rust Avenue bridge and providing a new bridge at Otaika Road; purchasing a roller, trucks and loading plant; establishing a plant maintenance depot, store and holding yard; purchasing land and establishing parking areas; constructing bus shelters on service bus routes, and providing for works and purchases incidental to the aforesaid. The total amount proposed to be borrowed is £173,200. The proposed security for the repayment of the loan, together with interest thereon, is a special rate of one decimal .five nine four pence (1.594 d) in th“ pound (£) upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the Borough of Whangarei,. It is proposed that the loan, together with interest thereon, at a rate not exceeding three pounds five shillings (£3/5/-) per centum per annum shall be repaid by equal aggregate half-yearly instalments extending over a term of twenty-five (25) years. It is intended to pay out of the loan the costs of raising the loan, but it is not proposed to pay out of the loan any part of the interest or loan repayment. It is proposed that the works programme be spread over a term of ten years, and that the borrowing to provide the total sum of £173,200 be taken up as required over the same term.
