Final Try To End Leopold Question
LONDON, Fri. (2.30 p.m.).—The Belgian Government has authorised the Foi’eign Minister (Dr Spaak) to negotiate with King Leopold, who is now in Switzerland, in a final effort to solve "the Royal question.’’ says the Daily Herald’s Brussels correspondent. The Socialists are ready to discuss accesion of Prince Baudouin, aged 17. King Leopold’s heir. It is believed that King Leopold is agreeable. In a letter to Cabinet he is said to have expressed satisfaction with the recent statement by Dr Spaak that the King’s honour would not be discussed.
