No BBC Show Since Workers Object
LONDON. Fri. (12.30 p.m.)—Because workers threatened demonstrations if it went on, the BBC cancelled a nightshift show in a factory, which was to have been the BBC’s answer to the Musicians’ Union’s recent ban on broadcasts from theatres.
A factory shop-steward said the BBC merely wanted the record show to fill the programme gap, which the dispuce with another union had created. The Musicians’ Union has demanded £2/10/- per musician for each broadcast from theatres, instead of the 12/6 previously paid.
