Taumarunui Picnic Club's Protest
NEW PLYMOUTH, Sat. (P.A.)—A strong protest against the omission in the Gaming Commission’s report of any recommendation supporting the claims of the Taumarunui Picnic Hack Racing Club for a totalisator permit was made at a meeting of the committee of the club yesterday. “Taumarunui is not mentioned from start to finish of the report,” said the president, Mr D. S. Allen. “I do not suppose the population catered for by the six clubs from which the commission wishes to take licences would, if put together, equal the population of our district, but this appears to make no difference whatsoever.”
