New Stalemate In Indonesia?
BATAVIA, Fri. (11.30a.m.).—Unless a compromise on the cease-fire plans and political principles is reached before next week, the Indonesian negotiations sponsored by the Security Council Committee of Good Offices would be in danger of collapsing it was learned reliably here tonight. The possibility of the dispute being referred back to the Security Council or the Dutch resuming the right of freedom of action as they did just before the police action, would then face the Good Offices Committee. The climax in the present situation, described tonight by the butch news agency Aneta as “critical.” is expected on. Sunday when the Good Offices Committee is flying to Jogjakarta with the Republicans. The committee today broke its silence about the progress of the negotiations and said it would complete discussions on its latest informal suggestions made to the parties when it met the Republican Government at the week-end.
