Heavy Rainfall In All Parts Of North

In the two hours between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. yesterday Kaitaia was deluged with 1.41 in of rain. Of the total fall of 1.98 in for the 24 hours to 9 a.m. today, 1.96 fell between 2 p.m, and 7 p.m. No damage is reported.

Nearly 2in. of rain fell in Whangarct yesterday. Of the total fall of 1.83 in„ I.sin. fell in five hours. Stormwater drains in some streets could not cope with the water which banked up to the kerbs.
