Milford Track Popular
DUNEDIN, Fri. (P.A.)—The Milford Track remains one of the most popular of all South Island scenic spots and bookings are particularly heavy. The track itself is not in as good condition as was the case before the war, owing to lack of maintenance work between 1939 and 1946. but the magnificent scenery continues to attract tourists from within and without the Dominion.
The position is now that although workmen have been engaged in clearing activities since the beginning of the season, visitors must be prepared for a little effort to enjoy the beauty of the track and its environs.
Three Australian gilds who arrived at the track wearing wedgies, another girl who wore sandals, and a man who came armed with brand-new boots, could testify to the importance of being properly equipped for some fairlj’ strenuous walking.
