ADMIRAL NIMITZ..
WASHINGTON. Tue. (II a.m.) —The United States Nav\ holds undisputed control of the sea and could establish floating airfields oil anv shore to attack inland areas, declares Actmira Chester Nimitz, former Chief of Naval Operations, m a reporl written just before his retirement last month.
Admiral Nimitz predicts that the navy of the future will arm its carrier planes with atom bombs. The report says the United States is relatively deficient in manpower compared with Central Asia. East Asia, and West Europe, but could win a war with supeiV>r weapons and naval airsea strength. If war came suddenly within the _ next few years air-sea power would
be the only way of quickly hittin; back at the enemy. Although invasion in some forn would be necessary to win a war, i might not be necessary to occupy th enemy’s whole territory or capital. Admiral Nimitz visualises the futur navy as a system of floating air base with submarines and surface craf launching guided missiles.
