AUCKLAND. Wed. (P.A.)—lt was , most gratifying to the Trotting Ccn- j ference and trotting clubs to know that the recommendation by them for increased permits had been recognised ! as essential to the natural progress of j trotting, said the president of the Auckland Trotting Club (Dr M. G. j Pezaro), commenting on the Gaming I Commission report. He paid tribute to the thoroughness J and soundness of the report. Expressing disappointment with the j commission’s criticism of accommoda- | tion provided for the public by the j Auckland Racing Club and Auckland j Trotting Club. Dr Pezaro said: “If the i commission can bring pressure to bear j on the Government to permit clubs to j provide facilities recommended by them, no one will be happier than those in control of racing and trotting in the Auckland Province.” He emphasised that the Auckland trotting grounds were in military oe- j cupation for four years, when they | deteriorated and efforts to improve accommodation were hampered by the building restrictions.
