WELLINGTON, Wed. (Sp.)— In releasing the report of the Royal Commission on Gaming and Racing, the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mi Parry) said that it had not yet been considered by the Government. '7n the meantime,” the Minister continued, "the Government was anxious that interested parties and the ! people generally should have ample opportunity ol reading the commission's Very comprehensive coverage of the many questions in connection with gaming and racing which had been brought before the commission during its public sittings throughout New Zealand and which had aroused great public interest.” In the past 33 years three other commissions had at various times dealt with particular problems of racing, ; but this was the first time that the whole range of the gaming laws had been subjected to a searching inquiry. DIFFICULT TASK | The commission, faced with the ' necessity of digesting over 964 pages of written submissions and 1365 pages of verbal evidence, had had a most difficult task, and for a proper understanding of the problems involved had found it desirable to give as complete an historical background as practicable to the various matters on which it had made recommendations. Though the report was a fairly ■ lengthy document, its contents were of such general interest that the Government had arranged for a reasonable number of copies to be cyclostyled and circulated to the Press ! and those most directly concerned. !
