White Wool For Babies
DUNEDIN, 'Wed. (P.A.)—Measures have been taken by the Rationing Controller to ensure that expectant mothers receive adequate supplies of white wool for babies’ wear. The new measures will operate as from the beginning of this month. This decision follows representations made by the Dominion council of the Plunket Society early last month' in discussions with the Rationing Controller and Retailers’ Federation. Making the announcement the secretary (Miss K. Rapps) said the word “maternity” will be endorsed on the inside of the back cover of all ration books of expectant mothers making application for additional butter. “This will enable retailers to continue the policy of supply only for baby wear materials such as white wool which are in short supply, and will overcome the difficulty caused by the cessation of the issue of supplementary ration books to expectant mothers,” said Miss Rapps. "The cover sheet of the ration book will be used by retailers to note the purchases.” She expressed the society’s gratitude to the Rationing Controller and Retailers’ Federation for the cooperation which had been so readily given.
