Royal Couple Lease Home
LONDON, Tue. GO a.m.).—Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh have leased Wincllesham Moor, Surrey, and will be taking up residence there in due course. The announcement confirms the Daily Mail report that the Royal pair selected Windlesham Moor after fire, on August 30. destroyed the future home which His Majesty had granted them at Sunninghill Park. Windlesham Moor is a beautiful Surrey estate of 50 acres. The owner is Mrs Warwick Bryant, formerly Mrs Philip Hill, widow of a millionaire financier. She is at present in South Africa. Reuters court correspondent says he understands that Princess Elizabeth and the Duke will use Windlesham Moor as a week-end home, rather than a permanent residence, because the Duke’s duties at the Admiralty will keep him in London during the week.
