OBITUARY . . .
Mrs A. F. 'Maunder HAMILTON, Wed. (Sp.).—Mrs Annie Frances Maunder, of Kihikihi, has died in Hamilton, aged 92 years. Mrs Maunder was born in Tipperary. Ireland, and came to New Zealand as a young woman. After living near Bombay, she moved to Kihikihi over 70 years ago and married the late Mr G- Maunder, who was in business there. She is survived by two sons and two daughters. There are numerous grandchildren and great-grand-children.
I Mrs Maunder was injured in a fall I a fortnight ago and she was admitted jto the Waikato Hospital where she I died. ! Mr Robert Thorburn ! AUCKLAND. Wed. (Sp.). Mr ! Robert Spiers Thorburn of Remuera, ! has died at his seaside residence at I Whangaparaoa, aged 88. I Born at Whangaparaoa, he was the I last surviving member of a famiy cf j 12. His parents arrived in New Zeaj land from Scotland over 105 years ago. I Mr Thorburn was a director of the j Electric Construction Company of New ! The death has occurred of Mrs Ettie Sloane, of Mata, in her 79th year. Mrs Sloane, who was the daughter of the late Mr Daniel Lorrigan, was born in Auckland and lived there until she married Mr F. H. Sloane in 1891. Soon after her marriage she came io Mata where her husband was engaged in bush contracting. He took up land and farmed it for many years. The family are still living on the original Sloane holding. Iff the days when all travel was on foot or horseback, Mrs Sloane kept open house and many a traveller was glad of a cup of lea. She was always a loyal supporter of the Roman Catholic Church, taking a keen interest in youth activities. She had five children, Messrs J.. B. and A. Sloane. and Misses N. and R. Sloane. all of whom still live at Mata. Thffre are -six grandchildren.
