WELLINGTON, Wed. (P.A.). Eishty-flve degrees in the shade, the j highest for 50 years, was recorded at the residence of Mr H. M. Hayward, Lower Hutt, on Sunday. The highest previously recorded by Mr Hayward was 83.5 on a few occasions during the 50 years he has taken recordings.
