AUCKLAND. Wed. (Sp.)—Yesterday two more positive and three suspected cases of infantile paralysis were admitted to the Auckland Hospital. There were 56 positive cases and six suspects in hospital last night. One of the new positive cases was J an adult and the other was a child, both being from the city area. Of two suspects admitted yesterdayafternoon, one was from the city and the other from a northern part of the Waitemata County. The number of fatal Auckland cases has been reduced from nine to eight. The death of a child previously rei ported to have been caused by infan- | 'tile paralysis, has been shown oy tests) to have been due to meningitis. It was officially stated yesterday that there were doubts about the diagnosis at the time of the child’s death. It is now definitely established that the case was not poliomyelitis. 131 SINCE NOVEMBER 15 The number of positive cases of infantile paralysis reported in the North Island since the outbreak in Auckland on November 15 has now reached 131. WANGANUI DISCHARGES Two of the four patients in the Wanganui Public Hospital who had been suffering from poliomyelitis have been discharged stated the district medical officer of health (Dr T. C. Lonie) at Palmerston North today. There is still no sign of paralysis in the other two patients.

No more positive cases have been reported and the number in the Wellington, Wanganui and Hawke’s Bay provincial health districts, is now three.
