Satisfactory Wafer Storage For Power

WELLINGTON, Tue. (P.A.L—In spite of the prolonged period of dry weather and high temperatures over the greater part of the North Island, the Electricity Controller, (Mr F. T. M. Kissel) said yesterday that the levels of the various hydro-electric storage lakes in both islands are satisfactory, while the demand for power at present is not heavy. The level of Lake Taupo is 1175.65 ft, or 16in. below the maxiinum level of control. The level was down to 1172.75 ft on April 15 last year. At Lake Waikaremoana the level is now 1994.9f.t, slightly above that of a year ago. The overflow level is 2016 ft. The dam at Mangahao is almost full. In the South Island, Lake Coleridge, at 1673.25 ft, is nearly full, while the level of Lake Mahinerangi is 77.75 ft, or 10ft above the old control level.
