French Boy Loses Lyggcsge In Sydney

SYDNEY, Tue. A six-year-old French boy, Pierre Lunjevich. met on Saturday night his third m isfortune during a strange 57 hours in Sydney. He lost his luggage—but not his French rag doll —20 minutes before his plane left Mascot for Noumea. Pierre, who lives with his parents in New Caledonia, was on his way home after a holiday in New Zealand. On Thursday ho staged a “sit-down” strike at the Rose Bay flyingboat base when he found no one was meeting him in Sydney, On Friday he became entangled with the Taxation Department, which insisted on form-filling formalities. FRANTIC SEARCH On Saturday night Pierre arrived at the Kingsford Smith Airport, accompanied by a temporary guardian from' the French Consulate office, in good time to catch the Pan-American Clipper. The boy’s suitcase was passed through customs and consigned to the waiting plane only 50 yards away. Then something went amiss and it was lost.

The diplomat and officials worked frantically before the plane left at midnight and finally had to give up the search.

The least worried member of the search party was Pierre, who had his travel-stainecl rag-doll to hug. He was excited because a French Army general, Pierre Ragot, was to sit next to him in the plane. General Ragot, Director of Medical Services in Saigon. agreed to become Pierre's guardian for the trip home.
