CANBERRA. Tue. (10.30 a.m.)—The desperate shortage of houses would be removed within two years, said the Federal Minister of Works and Housing (Mr Lemmon). "By 1950 a young married couple who want a house should be able to go to the building trade and get one built without delay, as in pre-war days.” he said. His bright outlook was based on the Considerable improvement in house building in 1947. even though increased production of building materials was still required.
