! CANBERRA. Tue. U. 30 pun.) A j tentative plan for flying 10,000 assisted I migrants from Britain is being submiti ted to Cabinet by the Minister of Immigration (Mr Colwell,'. Political correspondents consider, however, that in view of Mr Colwell's announcement last week that shipping is assured this year for the target figure of 70,000 immigrants, Cabinet is unlikely to favour the more expensive method. Air companies in Britain, the United States and Australia have made tentative proposals to the Commonwealth to carry migrants in this way. ! While in London. Mr Calwcll was I told that it might be possible to bring : people to Australia by air for about ' £2OO each. 1 The British Government now pays i half the costs of sea transport for nvii grants after deducting £lO of the fare, ! and the Australian Government pays j the other half. I Mr Calwell believes that the British Government might agree to extend the j subsidy to air travellers.
