Children Lead Police To Robber
MELBOURNE. Tue. (Noon).—Three children, two aged 7, and one aged 6, brought about the arrest of an alleged robber at Fitzroy.
The police xefuse to disclose their names because of fear of reprisals by criminals. The children saw a man throw a brick through a window and dash away with clothing “just iike in the films,” as they told the police later. A seven-year-old boy and girl shadowed the man through two streets, while the other child ran to he Fitzroy Police Station and pantingly told the story.
A wireless patrol car raced out from the city, picked up the child and followed his directions until the others were found. After a search the police captured a man with unwrapped clothing under his arm. From the time the brick was thrown to the arrest was only 15 minutes.
