Many Uses Likely For Old Planes
HAMILTON. Tue. (Sp.).—Warplanes, which are now lying at Kukahia aerodrome, near Hamilton, are likely to be used as seaside baches, pigsties and workshops iJ the various tenders received by the War Assets Realisation Board are accepted. The 442 planes, which saw service in the Pacific, include Venturas. Hudsons, Warhawks, Corsairs and Avengers. They are in very poor condition as a result of prolonged exposure to the wind and rain. As the conditions of the tender arc "as is and where is, with no guarantee ot airworthiness." bargain hunters were not disappointed in this respect.
Tiie main difficulty is expected to be transportation from the drome. The wings will have to be removed, but even then the length of the Venturas will be more than the regulations permit.
