Denies Call To Treat Stalin
STOCKHOLM, Sun. (10 a.m.)—Professor Elis Berven, Swedish cancer specialist, whose visit to Moscow was rumoured to be connected with the health of Stalin, said en route at Helsinki that he had not been called to treat any prominent person. He was only returning a visit which some Russian specialists had paid Sweden a year ago. It was earlier reported that Professor Berven was summoned urgently to Moscow for “consultation in a serious cancer case” and left today for Helsinki, where a Russian plane awaited him. It was not known who Professor Berven’s patient would be but, it was recalled that some years ago when M. Stalin developed brain trouble Professor Clivecrona was called to Moscow frcm Sweden for consultation. Colleagues of Professor Berven, who is a leading cancer expert, believed that the patient he was to attend was in fact M. Stalin, who is the only leading Russian personage who has been reported to be ill.
