(P.A.)—The South Island local bodies' conference today discussed remits dealing with the question of more lighting on main highways in order to minimise danger to road users and also the necessity for the Government proeeedihg with the work of completing the road in south Westland betwen the Paringa and Haast Rivers to open up country and provide a connection over the Haast Pass with Otago.
