Tax Allowances On Advertising
LONDON, Thu. (1 p.m.L— I The Chancellor of the Exchequer (Sir Stafford Cripps) announced in the House of Commons that he would withdraw the proposal to halve the income-tax allowance on advertising expenditure and would substitute a voluntary scheme which the Federation of British Industries had suggested. Dr Dalton, in the Autumn Budget, laid down that only 50 per cent of the advertising allocation would be tax free instead of 100 per cent as hitherto.
Sir Stafford said he was willing to establish a working committee to examine alternative voluntary methods.
