Unorganised
The Colonial Secretary (Mr CreechJones) told the House of Commons today that\the Palestine disorders were sporadic and unorganised.
Arabs used mob violence against Jews and looted and burned several shops. Haganah had been in the streets in force, and, generally, had done its best to restrain the Jews.
The Palestine Government would try to maintain law and order until the mandate was finally surrendered. British troops and police are accused of deliberate neglect of duty during the rioting in Jerusalem yesterday, in a statement issued by Haganah. The statement claims that the Haganah. was principally responsible for dispersing the Arab mobs which were attacking Jewish shops. The statement also attacks the Palestine Government’s policy of arresting members of the Haganah during the day “in the execution of their duty.”
! It says the administration must either maintain order or hand over the task to those who are willing and able to perform it.
