LONDON: The death has occurred of Captain Edward Carrington Heard, who was captain of the racing yachts Shamrock. Astra and Endeavour. He was aged 69. Captain Heard took part in the Americas Cup as able seaman in Shamrock 111. in 1903, as first mate in Shamrock IV. in 1914, and 1920. and as captain in Shamrock V. in 1929. He was considered to be without equal in Britain in handling yachts. —GO a.m.) * ► •
