Fatal Fall From Passenger Ferry
AUCKLAND. Thu. (Sp.)—The mate of the passenger ferry Albatross was lost overboard on the run from Birkenhead to the city, via Northcote, shortly after 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon. He was: Mr William O’Connor, aged 22. Single, of Glenfield Road, Birkenhead. Mr O'Connor, who was a nephew ol the master of the Albatross. Mr T. O'Connor, was attending to a rope after the vessel left Northcote and in giving it a tug lost his balance and fell overboard. He is believed to have struck his head in the fall. The Albatross and the vehicular ferry Mollyhawk made a thorough search without success. A swift ebbtide was running at the time.
